Choosing Emergency Equipment To Fill Triage Kits

Choosing Emergency Equipment To Fill Triage Kits

by Eric Holm

Triage kits are similar to traditional first aid kits but they are designed to be used in a major disaster that involves multiple victims. The term triage defines the process of assessing injuries to determine which are in need of the fastest attention. This system is used anytime help is needed in a remote area on rough terrain or when there are more people in need of assistance than there are rescue personnel. The goal is to treat as many patients as quickly as possible.

Emergency supplies packed into this type of disaster kit are very familiar to most people but there are some items that are designed specifically to address the unique challenges presented when there are several victims to help at one time. Injuries must be quickly evaluated for severity. Some will be minor enough that treatment can wait awhile. Some victims are categorized as delayed. These people will need to go to a hospital but transport is not urgent. Other injuries will be so severe that transportation to the nearest medical facility must happen immediately. The deceased will be put into body bags and await transportation to the morgue after all living victims have been treated. Disaster supplies needed include brightly colored vests to identify rescue workers and various colors of tape to mark patient status. These medical first aid kits should include some type of emergency manual with advice about conducting a rescue operation.

This specialized first aid kit can also include manuals outlining various emergency procedures, including CPR and the proper treatment for a variety of minor injuries. A couple portable stretchers that can be quickly assembled to evacuate the seriously injured will also come in handy during a crisis.

Natural disasters and terrible accidents are situations no one ever wants to go through. When tragedy strikes, there is always a better chance for a positive outcome with the proper rescue equipment ready to go. Solar blankets and other first aid supplies can make a big difference if there is ever a disaster in your community and you are pressed into service.

All first responders will be familiar with analyzing injuries and prioritizing the need for treatment or transportation. During an earthquake, hurricane or flood, volunteers are often needed to help those who are injured. Learning the basics of offering assistance is something that everyone should take the time to do. There is no way of knowing when this knowledge can be used to save a life.

The Importance Of Managed IT For Your Business

The Importance Of Managed IT For Your Business

by Frankline Bell

It would be hard to come up with a business that doesn't need at least some type of computer and most businesses have a network of computers. For many kinds of companies, creating a comprehensive plan for your information technology is essential. While this plan is crucial, it's not easy to create, manage and update, so outsourcing these IT services can be your best option.

Information technology has been around in some form for thousands of years. In ancient times, scribes used clay tablets and papyrus for everything from recording historical information to writing letters. As time progressed, we had type writers and file cabinets to hold and store data. Today, of course, computers hold our important data and while in many ways this truly makes life easier, computer systems and networks can be quite difficult to manage properly.

Information technology, after all, includes many different elements. One must set up a network and use computers installed with software and hardware that specially support your type of business. This hardware and software needs to be maintained and updated, and even your website will need alterations and management. Information must be backed up and security measures have to be installed. You also need to have a plan to help you recover if a major network disaster occurs, and this is just a portion of what is included in an IT plan.

Often larger businesses will have an entire department dedicated to their information technology, but this is not something that many companies can afford or even need full-time. IT consulting from an outside firm can be an excellent way to ensure that your information technology constantly helps move your business forward.

Your Portland IT consulting firm will begin by assessing your current system and your needs both at the present time and your goals for the future. After this, they can create a comprehensive plan tailored specifically for your company. Managed IT services usually also include regular reporting that includes suggestions that will help you improve your IT plan.
